Alvaro Morata moved back to Real Madrid this week after the Spanish side activated a buy-back clause in his contract with Juventus, two years after he left for the Serie A side.
The conventional wisdom is that Real did this so that they could make a profit by selling the in-demand Spain striker to the highest bidders for an inflated sum, but the man himself wants to give it another go at the Bernabeu.
I do not have to prove anything. I am no longer a Castilla player,” he told Spanish TV channel Cuatro.
“Madrid will decide if I am capable. If not, another decision will have to be taken.
“I want to be one more at Madrid and fight for a place. I am a Madrid player and I cannot say anything. I would love to continue at Madrid, but I want to be important and fight for a place.”
Arsenal had been among the teams linked with a move for the 23-year-old.
