If you’d like
to see a picture of a man so intensely passionate about what he does, take a
have a
five-minute chat with him.
You will not
only be swept into the arcane world of door manufacturing, which he currently
dominates, you
will also be inspired by the immensely ebullient businessman’s perspicacity.
It is this
transcendent insight into the Nigerian way of life that has moved him to
shatter the
prices of all
his company’s products.
All these
products are now cheaper by as much as 65%!
In the building
industry, some think this move by Nwadiogbu is mental; others believe there
is probably
more to the Emilinks ‘Name Your Price’ promo than meets the eye.
To the man,
however, a radical price drop on all products is exactly what the doctor
ordered
for Nigeria.
The way the
country is at the moment, money is hard to come by for many people, he says.
“We saw this
coming a few months ago and we decided to do something about it. We
decided to make
life more bearable for people. We believe that no one should have to
terminate their
building projects because of the prevailing economic situation in the
country.”
By “we”,
Nwadiogbu is referring to the seven-year-old luxury door manufacturing division
of the Emilinks
group. Since February 2016, the corporation has been selling its usually
premium-priced
doors at incredibly low prices.
N150,000 and
N120,000. Ordinarily, this door retails for about N350,000.
The popular
solid wood flush door that used to be N110,000 is now only N50,000, and the
Economic Flush
Door is currently at N30,000 instead of N60,000.
Also, Emilinks
is selling the limited edition 2.4m-height 100-percent wooden door for about
at N3m; now it
is only N1m. This Armour Door is made with galvanised steel and pure
forest wood.
370,000 per
unit are now available at N150,000 each.
N120,000.
The Kitchen and
Wardrobe product categories of the company weren’t left out too; a 3 meter kitchen formerly sold
for N850,000 is now going for N200,000.
Also, the wardrobes of 1.7m, 1.5m,
1m which were sold for N350,000 - N250,000 is now selling for N100,000
respectively.
Altogether, the
company plans to give away 1 billion naira in discounts with a guarantee not
warranty of maximum premium quality.
According to
Nwadiogbu the consumer incurs no additional cost on frames, lock, cylinder,
handles, and
keys because all doors come with them by default.
“I know what
we’re doing is astonishing to many people,” he says. “But we are the only
company in
Nigeria that can pull make this happen. We sell doors in 82 countries and can
afford to bring
our savings home to Nigerians.”
Besides,
Emilinks runs a 360-degree manufacturing operation that includes harvesting
trees
from farms that
it owns in Europe, styling and processing the logs at its own cutting-edge
plant, and
distributing the hand-finished products from its four warehouses in Lagos.
If this sounds
too good to be true, Nwadiogbu contends, “then people should come see for
themselves.”
